Skylar is a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of Akwesasne. For the last few months, she has been working with this community as well as the Oneida Wisconsin Nation, to put together a panel of speakers to discuss the Haudenosaunee public health response to the pandemic. The panel discussion is scheduled for July 7th at 2 pm via Zoom.

The panel consists of two members from Akwesasne, the tribal chief Michael Conners, and the Executive Director, Tsiorasa Barreiro, as well as Brandon L. Yellowbird-Stevens, Vice-Chairman of the Oneida Wisconsin nation. There are many interesting intersections of race, economy, community, and decolonization in Indigenous public health that were further revealed in the pandemic. We are hoping this panel can be a way to contribute and add to these important conversations.
