Naazanene Vatan is a senior in Columbia College double majoring in Biology and Medicine, Literature and Society. Naazanene first got involved in RCSS through her work with the Terence Cardinal Cooke At-Your-Service volunteer program, where she both volunteered at the nursing home and organized educational reflection sessions for the program’s volunteers. This summer, Naazanene worked as an RCSS intern in Mumbai, India to study intergenerational support networks and the concept of generativity in Mumbai’s deprived urban contexts. More broadly, she is interested in applying what we learn from the histories of medicine and public health to both clinical care and health policy solutions. On campus, Naazanene is also involved in biomedical engineering research at CUMC and is a resident advisor in East Campus.
